The Bhutan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Korea-Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) formally re-establishing the institutional relationship between the two agencies for fostering bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
The BCCI believes that Korea has a tremendous potential to offer innovative technologies, boost high-end tourism and avenues for human resource development that are critical for the nation working towards economic transformation.
While welcoming the Director General of KOTRA, Acting Secretary General of BCCI recalled the support of the KOICA in the past in the areas of HR capacity building and skills development extended to Bhutan. He aspired for similar support in the coming future.
Meanwhile, the President, BCCI emphasized the importance of maintaining the partnership robust through meaningful engagements.
“The MoU provides the basic foundation of the two partners to tread forward together in facilitating and fostering the bilateral trade and investment between the two friendly nations and therefore, he emphasized the importance of regular engagements between KOTRA and BCCI”, the BCCI President pointed out.
While responding, the Director General, KOTRA acknowledged about the common intention of the MoU partners and affirmed his personal engagement to foster this partnership. He also assured that KOTRA shall make itself available in linking the Bhutanese businesses with the Korean counterparts as well as BCCI with the similar institutions such as Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in future.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by technical advisory committee of BCCI, office bearers of sector associations, business professionals and the media community.
