3rd Made in Bhutan Exhibition 2024 & the Watermelon Festival

The Bhutan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) in collaboration with Department of Employment & Enterpreneurship, Ministry of Industry Commerce & Employment and Transitional Trade Support Facility Program is  organising the 3rd Made in Bhutan Exhibition (3rd MBE 2024)  & the Watermelon Festival 2024” with the theme “Fostering Entrepreneurship for Economic Self-reliance” scheduled from 7-9 June 2024 at Clock Tower Square, Thimphu.

The primary objectives of 3rd MBE 2024 are:

  1. To showcase and promote Bhutanese products with high potential for export, substitute import, and generate meaningful employment;
  2. To establish reliable value chain for the Bhutanese products;
  3. To foster a thriving entrepreneurship ecosystem within Bhutan; and
  4. To cultivate and nurture the spirit of entrepreneurship among the Bhutanese population.

The 3rd MBE 2024 is an exclusive platform for showcasing “Made in Bhutan” products with a special focus on the Cottage and Small Industries (CSI) sector. Entrepreneurs from all over Bhutan can take advantage of the platform to further your business interest and scale their business by establishing linkages with the local dealers/suppliers through B2B networking.

Around 35 Bhutanese companies (Mostly CSIs) are taking part in the 3rd MBE 2024 showcasing the “Made in Bhutan” Agri Food products, Beverages, Textiles, Arts and Crafts, Steel and Wooden products, Cane and Bamboo products, Traditional Medicines and Herbal Health Promoting products.

The Participating entrepreneurs can leverage the platform of the 3rd MBE 2024 for the official launch of their products and services, thus gaining significant exposure and recognition in the market.

 The Watermelon Festival 2024

The Watermelon Festival 2024 is a celebration of the hard work of Khenrig Namsum Cooperatives (KNC) of Zhemgang Dzongkhag and other farming communities. It will highlight and promote Watermelon locally grown by KNC.

Watermelon has been one of their best agriculture success stories and around 20 Watermelon farmers from Zhemgang will be participating in the festival.  The Watermelon Festival 2024 will bring together farmers who will sell and promote their produce directly to local consumers and establish linkages with the wholesalers/suppliers. Direct meeting between the consumers and the farmers will help instill a deeper appreciation in the local community for locally grown produce and sustainable agriculture practices.
