The BCCI is in receipt of a letter from the Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce Sri Lanka (WCIC) regarding the Women Entrepreneur Awards 2024. The WCIC is the oldest women only chamber in Sr Lanka and the world, established in 1985 with the main objective of facilitating the inclusion of women in mainstream business activity.
The vision of the WCIC is to be a voice and platform for the empowerment of women as powerful Nation Builders by participating in transforming the economic growth of the nation.
They have announced the WCIC Annual Flagship Event, WCIC – PRATHIBHABHISHEKA – WOMEN ENTREPRENEUR AWARD (WEA) will be held this year too to encourage and recognize women entrepreneurs of Sri Lanka and the SAARC region.
With this, WCIC welcomes women entrepreneurs from the SAARC region to apply for the WCIC Prathibhabhisheka Women Entrepreneur Awards 2024.
The eligibility criteria are as follows:
- 51% ownership by SAARC Region Woman
- 100% women owned business with one third (1/3) or more held by a SAARC Region Woman
- One thirds (1/3) or more ownership by a SAARC Region Woman with significant management involvement – Chairperson/Director/CEO/MD
- Conforming to the above any-national with a duly registered well established business operating over 5 years is eligible
WCIC will bear the following costs for the overall SAARC Winner to attend the Awards Ceremony to be held in Colombo in January 2025:
- One economy class airfare
- 2 nights stay/double room on BB basis at a Five Star hotel
- Airport pick up and drop off
- 2 tickets to the event
